As a new mom I've discovered a lot of little simple joys...
*Snuggle time..when Porter falls asleep while I am holding him. This is my FAVORITE part of the day:)
*His high pitched random squeals for no apparent reason.
*The different facial expressions he makes while he sleeps..smiles, frowns, furrowed eyebrows, wimpers, coohs etc.
*how confused yet content he looks during bath time
*how he stares blankly at Grandma Terry while she takes over the job of the paparazzi snapping hundreds of photos of him
*his precious smiles when I make silly baby talk to him
*the way he tries to climb up my body as I try burping him (pushing off of my incision..ouch!)
*The way he waits till the diaper is off to spray mommy...just for kicks and giggles
*How during bath time he decides to help out with the job of filling up the tub...making me bath him much quicker in hopes that his urine doesn't mix with the water I am soaking him in.
*How after I change his diaper, put a new one on and just BARELY finish buttoning up his outfit, he has yet ANOTHER blowout...so i get to go through the whole changing process AGAIN:)
I am absolutely LOVING being a mom! The old saying "they grow up so fast" has definitely proven to be true. I keep trying to remember how small he started out and the weight change as I hold and rock him but I simply can't. All I have are video recordings and picture images to remember just how small he started out. Bummer. I am absolutely enjoying being a part of how fast he is growing and experiencing each new milestone with him...yesterday he just started to give me those precious grins and that handsome social smile. I just LOVE IT! Strangely enough, Diaper changes don't bother me a bit..neither does the stench! Strange I know. I'm keeping up on clipping his nails though because he seems to love scratching his face when that gas gets to him...it's hard watching him suffer with that tummy pain.
UPCOMING EVENTS...
Can't wait for his blessing March 7th ...in less than a month! And I am kind of nervous about our trip to Washington in mid March to visit my hometown and have another baby shower for friends and family.
ARRIVAL OF BABY COUSIN JONAH!
Porter's newest cousin just arrived February 14th! Congrats Derik and Kelly on your precious arrival of little Jonah! He is so precious! Deven and I can't wait to come visit and see the newest member of your family:)

So happy for you guys. I know how you feel with the forgeting of earlier stages. I see a newborn and honestly can't remember Bailey being that small. So glad that things are going well for you! The first year is full of so many changes and mile stones, glad you get to experience all of them!!
ReplyDeleteBeth I couldn't agree with you more! I just went to visit Reegen and her 3 day old little Evelyn today and she weighs about 7 1/2 lbs. When i picked her up it felt like I was holding a feather! I still can't imagine that Porter was even smaller than that when he was first born. I can't wait to have another little one..I'm willing to wait a year and a half of course but it was so sweet holding her. And Porter is already cooing and "talking"..so sweet!
